STAPLEFORD

its history and its people

St. Helen's

This website is about the people of Stapleford over the centuries and the events that affected their lives.

Ralph Penniston Taylor's 'History of Stapleford' has been transcribed and reproduced in the 'Histories' section of this website and rarely needs to be added to or amended. He loved the medieval history of Stapleford but his interest waned the closer he got to the modern day, and he was qute rude about later developments. Recognising that we are standing on the shoulders of giants, most of the other material on this site covers a period starting around the middle of the nineteenth century to the present day. It is still being developed and items are added at regular intervals.
