It was decided to compile a comprehensive list of this material, and five members of the Society &#8211; Barbara Brooke, Nigel Brooks, John Shaw, Keith Goodman and Margaret Watt &#8211; met regularly over several years to undertake this task. The archive group continues to meet at regular intervals as new material is added.<\/p><p>The archives are stored in ring binders and have been coded according to a system based on the Dewey Decimal Classificaton, prepared by a previous librarian. It was agreed that this sytem should be retained, although it was acknowledged that in some areas-such as roads- a single code was inadequate to allow the level of detail required. It was felt,\u00a0 however, that this limitation could be partially mitigated through the availabily of digital searching.\u00a0 A simplified method of searching has recently been added.\u00a0 A subject index enables you to narrow down the search area.
